The Group distributes its products through a global supply network, serving its customers in the retail, aviation, wholesale, fuel card, marine, haulage and government sectors. This is an excellent opportunity to join an ambitious petroleum trading house as a Cargo Operator. Besides covering Downstream shipping operations, there could be instances to cover other cargo movements. Candidates with stock management experience will be preferred. The role is based in London. Main Responsibilities Working closely with the trading department, you will be handling cargoes lifted from or discharged into our refineries in Germany, South Africa and the UK. The main cargoes will be crude oil shipments with some avenue for providing support for others as well. Your main responsibilities will comprise of: Liaising with counterparts to arrange shipments. Vetting vessels against company vetting and compliance policies. Working with product managers and charterer to adjust scheduling when unplanned events occur. Ensuring our Trade Finance Department is well informed of all transactions. Ensuring all cargo info/costs are entered and logged in the necessary trading/payment systems. Understanding and proactively managing demurrage risks. Nominating cargoes to each terminal timely and accurately. Issuing documentary Instructions and voyage orders. Nominating Inspectors at load and discharge ports. Liaising with Inspectors, vessel agents, insurers and any other internal or external parties fundamental to the running of the business. Updating our trading system (Aspect) with accurate data regarding cargoes including NOR’s, B/L dates, actual volumes etc. Ensuring cargo quality is achieved and maintained throughout company’s contractual responsibility during shipments. Requirements Degree qualified with at least 5 years’ experience as an operator in the oil and gas industry. Possess good understanding of marine operations and its commercial impact; terminals; logistics and refinery operations; marine transportation of product; product specifications and grades; marine operations; standard terms and conditions of contracts; understands the value of variations in specification, timing, and volume. Understanding of tariffs, taxation, exchanges, storage terminals, blending, testing methodology/repeatability, inventory management would be preferable. Experience handling crude oil cargoes would be desirable. Good problem-solving skills and strong teamwork abilities to work in the operations team. Strong commercial thinking ability Full understanding of deal pricing and risk exposure per cargo would be beneficial. Able to work independently. Capable of work as part of a team. Able to work in a fast-paced environment. Effective communication skills as required to liaise with key internal/external counterparts. German language skills would be beneficial.
