Career Teachers are recruiting passionate and qualified Teachers to work in a range of Primary Schools in the Wakefield Education Authority. Successful applicants can work on a full time or part time basis.

Career Teachers support a range of schools including Independent, SEN and Faith Schools.

We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Autism Support Assistant to join our team at a special needs school in Wakefield. This full-time position is available from October half term. You will play a crucial role in supporting students with autism, helping them to thrive in their educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and group support to students with autism.
  • Assist in the implementation of individualised education plans (IEPs).
  • Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other staff to support student development.
  • Monitor and document student progress and behaviour.
  • Encourage social interaction and positive behaviour among students.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with autism or other special needs.
  • A patient, empathetic, and understanding approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in special education are desirable.

All quoted rates are inclusive of 12.07% holiday pay.
