Are you a talented writer with a passion for creating compelling content that drives business success? I’m seeking a motivated Bid Writer to join our client in their Business Development team, helping to secure new contracts and expand their market-leading presence in the Grounds Maintenance industry.

The role is looking to pay up to £40,000 dependant on experience, hybrid with travel to their Head Office in Lancashire.

About the Role

As a Bid Writer, you’ll play a vital role in the companies growth by crafting high-quality, persuasive bids that set us apart in the competitive green spaces sector. Working on contracts for both public and private clients, you’ll manage the full bid writing process—from planning and researching to coordinating and producing each bid. You’ll enjoy the opportunity to leverage insights from other departments, build a network of contacts within the business, and learn from our experienced team.

You’ll report directly to the Head of Business Development and be part of a dynamic, supportive team.

Who They are Looking For

If you have experience in a professional writing capacity—especially in bid or proposal writing—you’ll fit right in. Ideal candidates are creative and detail-oriented writers with strong organisational skills who thrive under deadlines. They value a winning mindset and a passion for creating bids that effectively showcase their strengths.

Key Responsibilities

  • Write and design high-quality bid documents: Plan, structure, and produce written content that meets client expectations.
  • Maintain and enhance the Bid Library and Case Studies: Contribute to resources that streamline and improve future bids.
  • Ensure compliance and accuracy: Check each bid for completeness and adherence to tender requirements.
  • Build strong internal networks: Work collaboratively with other business functions to gather insights and strengthen each bid.
  • Lead value-adding projects: Engage in strategic initiatives like submissions for industry awards to boost their profile.

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • Proven professional writing experience, ideally in bids or proposals.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to juggle multiple deadlines.
  • Confidence in managing multiple workstreams and stakeholder relationships effectively.
  • An understanding of commercial contracts and financial bid components is a plus.

Personal Qualities

  • Articulate and clear in written communication.
  • Detail-oriented, with a high standard for accuracy.
  • A capable communicator who enjoys working across teams.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills in a fast-paced environment.
