Your new company Hays are delighted to be retained by an established main contractor to recruit a Commercial Manager. Trading for over 30 years, this family run business has an excellent reputation for delivering a range of construction projects across Ireland. Due to continued growth, a new position has become available in the business for Commercial Manager. This is a unique position in Northern Ireland to join a growing main contractor at board level. Your new role As a key member of our Senior Management Team, you will manage the commercial team and will be responsible for maximising commercial success and profitability. It will be your responsibility to lead, manage and support pre- and post-contract commercial activities of all the projects in Ireland. Within your new role, you will attend Senior Management meetings regarding the company's performance and future strategies, as well as contract handover and other contract meetings as required. Your contractual advice and guidance will be pivotal in the protection of the company's contractual position. You will be in regular contact with the project team, ensuring the best commercial practice is being applied while reporting to the MD and providing them with regular evaluations. A strong commercial attitude and excellent communication skills are essential, as you will be expected to develop and maintain existing relationships with clients, the supply chain and a professional team. What you'll need to succeed To carry out this challenging role, you should have a third level qualification in a Quantity Surveying or Construction related discipline along with a proven track record in a senior commercial role within a contracting environment. The successful candidate will be expected to have a good knowledge and understanding of the contract obligations and therefore be efficient in ensuring the agreement of terms and conditions of contract orders. You will be ambitious, commercially astute and demonstrate excellent leadership and people management skills with the ability to influence others and manage and motivate a team. Due to the location of projects, you must be flexible to travel North and South on a weekly basis.
