The Competitive Connections Manager is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end processes that Independent Connection Providers and Independent Distributors need to deliver connections within the Northern Powergrid area. This role focuses on building key stakeholder relationships and creating a streamlined, efficient environment that supports safe and regulatory compliant environment in competition in connections.​

Key Responsibilities


The successful candidate will be accountable for:​


  • Manage, develop and improve the end-to-end processes required to provide a first-class service for Independent Connections Providers and Independent Distributors.​
  • Streamlining the Competition in Connections process, minimising the input services we provide wherever possible.​
  • Ensuring the effective delivery of commercially and regulatory compliant quotations on time.​
  • Establish, build and maintain exceptional customer relationships with the key stakeholders.​
  • Act as Northern Powergrid go to person on all matters relating to Competition in Connections and Distribution.​
  • Ensuring that Northern Powergrid delivers against its Competition in Connections obligations (SLC52)​
  • Maintain oversight of the industry accreditation schemes such as National Electricity Registration Scheme (NERS)

  • Identify and escalate material risk and bring forward solutions​
  • Provide oversight and ensure timely resolution of issues and escalated complaints. ​
  • Able to deliver high quality documentation​


Qualifications and Attributes


Essential Qualifications and Experience​


  • Degree or Higher National qualified in Electrical Engineering or equivalent​
  • Full UK driving license​
  • First class communication skills​
  • Excellent customer management skills​
  • Experience of relationship building at senior level​
  • Experience of the UK power network including connections providers and/or contractors​


Desirable Qualifications and Experience​


  • Experience of working in a regulated environment​
