Engine Test Technician - ICE / Engines
Job Summary: A leading international provider of testing solutions is seeking an Engine Test Technician to join our Engine Test Centre. The role involves working on a wide range of engine testing programs, including durability, fuel and additive testing, and research projects on prototype hardware. The team collaborates across multiple specializations, providing an opportunity for technicians to engage in innovative projects with a focus on quality and performance.
Working Hours:
- Day Shift (Mon-Fri)
- Early/Late Shift (Mon-Fri)
- 4 on/4 off (Rolling shift pattern)
Responsibilities:
- Assist with engine/test piece setup, including palletization, installation, and instrumentation.
- Validate engine running conditions and fluid, fuel, and boost systems in a test cell environment.
- Support the execution of customer-specific testing programs in a collaborative team setting.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults, and work closely with engineers to implement solutions.
- Perform servicing, hardware changes, and operate the test cell for both automated and manual testing tasks.
- Manage and maintain test equipment and hardware in the test cell.
- Communicate effectively with staff, engineers, supervisors, and customers on technical matters.
- Continuously work to improve processes, reduce waste, and optimize efficiency.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Experience in the automotive industry and/or testing environment is essential.
- Formal automotive qualification or apprenticeship preferred but not mandatory.
- Technicians from OEM dealerships and petrochemical testing backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
- Open to candidates with a background as time-served mechanics or similar roles.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of Health and Safety protocols.
- Solid knowledge of gasoline and diesel engine fundamentals and support systems.
- Proven experience in a testing environment or hands-on engine experience.
- Basic fabrication and mechanical skills.
- Ability to perform fault diagnostics and systematic troubleshooting.
- Comfortable working independently after the probation period.
- Proficient PC skills.
