Senior Locally Employed Doctor in Paediatric Neurosurgery (MT04) - Paediatric Neurosurgery - Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust – Manchester, City and Borough of Manchester

Applications are invited for the above posts for a period of 12 months to support the Paediatric Neurosurgery services at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.

Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital is one of the largest paediatric neurosurgical units in the UK. Not only do we provide specialist neurosurgical care for children from the Northwest of England, we also have patients from other parts of the UK and abroad.

Currently, there are six Paediatric Neurosurgery Consultants, four middle grade staff including Specialty Doctors/Clinical Fellows (including this post). There are also five advanced care practitioners and two specialist nurses supporting the team.

Due to the short-term nature of the role, the successful candidate must hold a current registration with the GMC at the time of application, whether it be an active licence, ceased licence or a pending application - MFT cannot support GMC Sponsorship for vacancies less than 12 months fixed term. Candidates who do not fit this criteria will not progress through to the shortlisting stage.

The main purpose of this role would be to provide a clinical service in Paediatric Neurosurgery including elective clinics, elective lists, ward supervision and on-call duties.

You should have a minimum of four years full-time postgraduate training (or equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis), at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme in neurosurgery or as a fixed term specialty trainee in neurosurgery. At least two years should have been spent in a post involving paediatric neurosurgical work. A post-graduate qualification relevant to Neurosurgery is essential. The post conforms to nationally agreed terms and conditions.

To find out more about the key responsibilities and the specific skills and experience you’ll need, take a look at the Job Description & Person Specification attachments under the ‘Supporting Documents’ heading.

MFT is committed to promoting equality of opportunity, celebrating and valuing diversity and eliminating any form of unlawful discrimination across our workforce, ensuring our people are truly representative of the communities we serve. All individuals regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation are encouraged to apply for this post.

We’re looking forward to hearing from you!
