  • Provide technical direction and leadership to project delivery teams as appropriate and with minimal supervision.
  • Support Delivery Teams in technical / construction conflict resolution both in design and construction to proactively support projects.
  • Provide technical and procedural advice to the delivery team and other DIO teams affected by technical issues arising from consultants or contractors including those affecting commercial, schedule, risk, and cost.
  • Inspire, empower, and engage with staff to deliver a customer focused organisation. Lead change setting clear direction and empower teams to act. Encourage innovation, fostering a robust team through continuous improvement.
  • Create and promote an environment of strong working relationships both within the team and with other teams across DIO and MOD.
  • Senior level experience of Construction Management process and practice.
  • Support DIO scrutiny and approval of technical and deliverability elements for Business Cases.
  • Support the evaluation, assurance, and procurement of Infrastructure services.
  • Provide ad-hoc advice & support for technical and engineering issues, and to wider DIO initiatives.
  • Lead on construction management activities through to RIBA 6.
  • Defence and public sector project experience.
  • Be a focal point within MPP and lead on wider Government construction initiatives.
  • Be an inspiring leader to the delivery teams.


Person specification

Essential experience and knowledge:
  • Good knowledge and experience of construction techniques and contracts.
  • Good knowledge and experience of design and technical issues on high value construction projects.
  • Good knowledge of construction management techniques.
  • Chartered or equivalent Membership of a Professional Body in the construction, engineering or property sector
  • Level 5 qualification in a construction,, property, design or engineering related subject

Desirable experience and knowledge:
  • Significant experience of advising across a range of design and construction projects, including large scale above 100M in a public sector environment
  • Significant experience of working in the defence sector.
  • Fellowship of a Professional Body in the construction, engineering, or property sector

Level 5 qualification in a construction,, property, design or engineering related subject

Memberships
Chartered or equivalent Membership of a Professional Body in the construction, engineering, or property sector
