Engineering Manager Location - West London Salary – £70,000 to £90,000 depending on experience Our client who design complex solutions for the Maritime Defence industry are currently looking for an Engineering Manager to ensure the successful delivery of a specialist project portfolio. Key Responsibilities: Project Leadership: Lead complex engineering projects from inception through delivery, ensuring alignment with business goals and technical standards. Team Management: Oversee large, multi-tiered teams, fostering collaboration and ensuring seamless coordination across multiple engineering groups. Estimation Expertise: Conduct and review engineering estimates, effectively challenging and defending them to ensure project feasibility and accuracy. Strategic Planning: Create Work Breakdown Structures, develop detailed engineering plans, and define clear delivery strategies, accounting for dependencies, assumptions, risks, and opportunities. Lifecycle Management: Guide projects through all stages of the design lifecycle, from initial bids to full-scale production readiness, in line with structured Lifecycle Management processes. Influence and Compliance: Drive program decisions to achieve cost-effective, compliant solutions that align with project and business objectives. Executive Engagement: Present project updates to senior leadership, including the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and CEO, ensuring alignment and transparency. Coaching & Mentorship: Provide coaching and mentorship to develop talent within the engineering team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and growth. Qualifications: Proven experience in an Engineering Manager or Engineering Lead role with hands-on project delivery. Strong background in product-based engineering, with demonstrated success in managing cross-functional engineering teams. Skilled in engineering estimation and project planning, with a solid understanding of risk management and strategic planning. Familiarity with structured Lifecycle Management processes and project design gates. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence senior leadership. Previous experience in coaching and mentoring engineers is highly desirable.
