Behaviour Mentor – Make a Real Difference! Salary: £110 to £150 per day Location: Wellingborough, NN8 The successful individual candidate will hold experience supporting young people facing barriers – the successful candidate will be joining a Supportive, friendly inclusive, mixed, multi-ethnic 11-18 Mainstream secondary school. A part of the role is to provide a complementary service to teachers and other staff, addressing the needs of children who require assistance in overcoming barriers to learning in order to achieve their full potential, or accessing the curriculum. Full-time, Temp– Term-time only Hours: 37.5 hours/week, Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4pm This role includes : Running the facility for pupils who are struggling to fully engage in education 1-1  Supporting students challenging behaviour, engagement and attendance Communicating regularly & effectively with pupils, staff and parents Assisting with identifying pupils in need of support Conducting one-to-one mentoring sessions with identified pupil Develop strategies for pupils to better manage their behaviour Drawing up action plans for learners Liaising with SENCos Keeping track of pupil progress and monitoring behaviour Organising lunchtime activities for pupils who display challenging behaviour during breaks Supporting liaisons with families What we’re looking for: Passion for working with young adults with autism. Minimum GCSEs in English and Maths (or childcare qualification). Resilience to handle the emotional and physical demands of the role. Team player with great communication skills. Kind, patient, and able to quickly build rapport. Basic IT skills (you’ll be recording and updating data). Willingness to use public transport. Qualifications: You don’t need a university degree to become a Behaviour Mentor. Schools will typically only require four or more passing grades at GCSE and to pass an enhanced DBS check. The most important qualifications are excellent listening skills, patience, trustworthiness, empathy and strong communication.
