Job summary We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a passion for Clinical Coding to join our team. We are a progressive department with a strong emphasis on training. As an Accredited Clinical Coder you will have experience of coding a variety of specialties that occur within an acute NHS organisation. You will have a flexible and adaptable approach to work and strive to create accurate clinically coded data, embracing the national clinical coding standards, rules and conventions, to ensure the Trust data is sufficiently robust. ACC Qualified Clinical Coders living within the geographical location of the Trust can chose to work on site full time or have the option to adopt a hybrid working approach, working part on site and part remotely. We would also be delighted to receive applications from ACC qualified Clinical Coders who live outside the geographical area of East Kent who are interested in remote working. We would consider applicants who do not have the qualifications, if successful you will be put on the annex 21 clause as below Up to 2 years training required: 70% of £34,581 = £24,206 pa Less than 1 years' training required: 75% of £34,581 = £25,935 pa Main duties of the job Analyse and interpret clinical informationTo create accurate clinically coded data in accordance with nationally mandated clinical coding standardsTranslate clinical documentation into an alphanumeric coded formatTo be proficient in navigation of ICD 10 and OPCS classificationsTo work independently, without direct supervision, prioritising the workload accordingly and in accordance with specific department directivesTo attend training and specialty workshops as requested by management to maintain and enhance knowledge and skills.To support the department in its commitment to service deliveryTo abide by the Trust mission and values to support the department in its commitment to service delivery. Person Specification Qualifications Essential Educated to GCSE/O level including Maths and English Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology Desirable Accredited Clinical Coder status Attendance at Speciality Clinical Coding workshops Educated to degree level or equivalent Skills Essential Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to prioritise workload to achieve departmental deadlines Receive audit feedback acting upon findings and recommendations accordingly Desirable Current and continuous clinical coding experience of at least 3 years within an Acute NHS establishment Knowledge and experience of interpreting and applying the nationally mandated standards, rules and conventions Personal attributes Essential Flexible and adaptable approach to work Ability to work independently without direct supervision and as part of a team To offer support and guidance to less experienced staff
