Here is an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Transport Planner to join our Manchester team. Our national Transportation division currently operate out of Manchester, Leeds, Newcastle, Bristol, Cardiff, Southampton, Truro & London and they have a wealth of experience and will offer support, development opportunities and expert advice. Working as part of our national division, you will be exposed to a wide variety of project work and practice. Please find additional information on our national division at Your role will include:As a Transport Planner, you will be providing transport inputs relating to clients’ development proposals and will work towards solutions which are acceptable to all stakeholders. Working as part of a highly motivated team, you will encounter a diverse range of assignments, which will enhance and develop your skills in:Providing planning-stage support for a variety of development schemesSupport the preparation of technical assessment documents and reports for planning submissionsSupport the technical assessments of junction performance using a range of industry-standard traffic modelling softwareDrafting Travel Plans and sustainability assessmentsPedestrian and cycle route designGeneral arrangement design work for new junctions and accesses onto the road networkAccompanying senior staff to project meetings and on-site visitsProviding support for planning Appeals/Public Inquiries etcClient liaisonThe attributes we expect you to bring to the role and company:Strong written, numerical and verbal communication skills and a client-focussed approach to workEnthusiastic and industrious with a willingness to learn new skillsExperience of data analysis, interpretation and presentation, in particular using Excel. In short, someone who enjoys and thrives in finding solutions to complex problems.Strong IT skills across a range of software, the ability to pick up new software quickly and a ‘can-do’ attitude to approaching new tasksExcellent people skills and the ability to work as part of a team, but can also immerse themselves into complex individual tasks, where neededTraffic modelling experience (trip generation and distribution methodologies, junction modelling etc); experience of Transport Assessments / Statements and Travel Plans. CAD design skills (particularly in relation to junction or car park design) are beneficial but not essentialDegree qualified in a relevant subject (Preferably with an MSc in Transport Planning but other related degree disciplines include Civil Engineering, Geography, Planning and Maths – although this is not an exclusive list)What's great about Hydrock, now Stantec are a multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy of over 900 staff in 21 offices across the UK.
