About the RoleThis is a chance to join HF’s top rated Aviation Team, working on behalf of a range of aviation insurers and their insured clients around the world. Our small team specialise in defending a wide range of aviation related claims and litigation with a particular emphasis in working for international airports in defence of claims and litigation arising from their everyday aviation activities. You will work as part of the team as a Litigation Executive, ensuring that clients are confident that their legal affairs are dealt with in a business-like and competent manner, ensuring the efficient operation of the firm. This is a hybrid full time role, with a typical week involving 3 days in the office and 2 at home although full time office based work is available if desired.What will I be doing? Day to day the successful applicant will be involved in defending claims and litigation using HF’s Case Management System, handling claims and litigation and supporting more experienced members of the team with complex and high value cases. Dependent on experience, your caseload will comprise of up to around 90 fast track cases plus a supporting role on 15 or so more complex claims. To ensure that all cases are dealt with in a compliance with Solicitors’ Accounts Rules and Law Society Practice Management Standards. Competent at dealing with files on a delegated basis and complying with client SLAs Referring cases for supervision and guidance so as to ensure the correct procedure and process is followed Entering into telephone negotiations, liaising with third party solicitors, own insurer clients and insured clients’ and recording the outcome of those approached. Drafting documents including, applications, offers, proposed orders, directions etc. Attending telephone conferences/applications/court hearings Working to Court Deadlines and Managing time in an effective manner using organisational skills and HF’s case management system. Seeing cases through from letter of claim to a conclusion in a cost effective matter Understand the litigation process and offer solutions to legal problem. Manage your time effectively and efficiently Complete MI and the understanding of SLA's Comply with HF practice and procedures.Other Responsibilities: To assist with the efficient running of the office generally. Perform other responsibilities assigned by the Management Team as requested;The existing teams are filled with ambitious professionals working in an engaging and friendly environment. We are a sociable department with lots of team activities to get involved in. Client engagement is high in this team and some work related travel is required, perhaps overseas.What do I need? You will have an interest in civil litigation including personal injury claims, property damage claims, contractual disputes and Aviation related laws including the Montreal Convention and EU1107/2006 but previous aviation experience is not needed as full training will be provided. Foreign language skills are not required. You will have passed your LPC or will have a minimum of 6 months’ experience working as a Litigation Executive/Fee Earner in a Defendant insurance practice. Preferably you will have previous experience of dealing with personal injury claims using the portal and DCP. Previous knowledge of the CPR, the SRA Code of Conduct and their application will be an advantage. You will also be able to meet/exceed billing targets. Previous experience of hourly rate charging preferable but not essential. You will have a client-centric approach and excellent client care skills.
