BMW Group Plant Hams Hall is a modern, state-of-the-art engine manufacturing facility, located just outside Birmingham, UK. Producing the latest generation of three and four cylinder petrol engines, and precision machining key engine components, the plant has recently celebrated 20 years of successful production. Operating seven days a week, with more than one engine rolling off the line per minute, the plant plays a key role in BMW Group’s global production network, supplying engines for BMW and MINI, including some of the latest plug-in hybrid vehicles. BMW Plant Hams Hall, Birmingham – Business IT Developer - 13 Month Placement (July 2025) We are looking for two interns to join our Business IT Development team for 13 months commencing July 2025. The role is based in TA-42 Machining, our function has 3 high volume flexible production lines and the role is to manage and develop IT based solutions to support the business. Our team is based in the same open plan office as the IT department and interns act as an interface to IT, and other areas of the business working in this field. What awaits you? Administer and manage a Microsoft SharePoint site with multiple subsites and Microsoft PowerBI server, and liaise with the central server owner in Oxford and Spartanburg. Develop bespoke complex solutions using SharePoint and basic programming in JavaScript for customers. Develop Business Analytics solutions for communicating the data to a wider audience. Use digitalisation methods to streamline pre-existing solutions in the business. Identify analysis' that can be improved with up to date reporting and analytics techniques. Use web technologies to improve and add new features to our existing internal web applications. Produce quality data analytics reports that are mobile device focused. Qualifications and Experience Studying towards a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Digital Media and IT or other relevant field and on track to achieve a 2:1 or above. An understanding and interest in business processes and the IT systems used to manage data. Excellent communication skills. High intrinsic motivation, creativity, project management skills and entrepreneur thinking. Programming language skills in one or more of the following (e.g. Python, Java, C#, C++, R, HTML). Experience with data visualisation tools, preferably PowerBI. Understanding of Oracle / SQL databases.
