In line with the government's priority to increase access and availability of mental health and wellbeing support for children and young people, the Wellbeing in Newham Schools Team (WINS) is an exciting opportunity to deliver evidence-based early interventions for children and young people, working across both educational settings and healthcare sectors in England. We have the opportunity to recruit 3 more EMHP / CWP / CBT practitioners to our team for 12 months. This is an ideal opportunity for qualified EMHPs / CWPs to act up to Band 6 or for clinicians interested in working in education environments / MHST settings to try it out. We are looking for confident CAMHS professionals with experience delivering CBT based interventions who are keen to develop their skills in providing evidence based interventions to children and young people both within schools and in CAMHS clinic setting. You will have a demonstrable track record of providing collaborative and supportive interventions with children, young people, families, and parents/carers. You will have professional registration within your chosen profession, for example Nursing, Social work, Occupational Therapy Psychology, or alternative therapies, or be a CWP / EMHP with practical experience post-qualification. In addition to the applicants CYP mental health expertise the post holder will be expected to contribute to CPD of the trainee education mental health practitioners (EMHPs), group supervision of junior staff, contribution to community development such as communities of practice and attendance at education forums such as SENCO and designated safeguarding leads forums. The post holder will require a high degree of professional autonomy and self-management and will be required to account for their professional practice through appraisal and audit. Person Specification Education/ Qualification/ Training Essential CAMHS Specialist/ Educational Psychologist /Occupational Therapist / Clinical Nurse Specialist (Mental Health) / Social Worker/ Creative therapist (Art or Drama)/ Senior CWP or EMHP/ CYP IAPT recruit to train candidates Appropriate level of qualification for your profession PG Diploma, BSc, Masters Registration with your appropriate body where applicable ( UKCP, NMC, HCP, BCAP etc.) Evidence of continuous and relevant professional training and development (CPD), as appropriate with qualification period Qualification in CBT/ Counselling / psychotherapy / behaviour modification / social skills or group therapy Desirable Qualification in nursing, social work, CWP/EMHP, occupational or family therapy, child psychology, creative therapies or equivalent field. Post Grad training or experience to support the needs of diverse children, young people and their families Mentor/Practice educator qualification Experience Essential Experience delivering CBT based low intensity, short term interventions for low mood and anxiety Experience in working with children and young people with mild to moderate emotional and behavioural needs. Previous experience of working in CAMHS, education or community organisation with a focus on social emotional and mental health needs Experience of supervising junior staff members Experience of working with a wide range of social, emotional, behavioural and mental health needs. Experience of working with families, school and other partner organisation to support young people who may be displaying behaviours that challenge. Experience of risk assessment and risk management Experience in working in a multi-disciplinary context Desirable Experience in participation and co-production Experience of delivering evidence based Parent groups and psychoeducation groups. Experience of working with children, young people and families in emotional crisis. Experience of working in a specialist or alternative school or education setting Experience of supporting schools to develop a whole school approach to resilience or through trauma informed practices Knowledge and Skills Essential Ability to deliver evidence based intervention for CYP, parents/carers Experience of delivering group interventions and psychoeducation in person and virtually. Able to manage own time and Caseload Excellent verbal and written communication skills Presentation/teaching skills Experience of therapy modalities suited to children, young people and their families A working knowledge of Child Protection Guidelines Desirable Evidence of early intervention skills and knowledge in children, young people and family mental health Able to work effectively across organisational boundaries Basic computer skills: Outlook, word, excel, powerpoint, MSTeams, Zoom and patient records Good interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work with others. The ability to empathise in a complex sensitive or emotional environment. Sensitivity to deal with distress, and aggression Specialist clinical skills within specific therapeutic modalities Knowledge, understanding and experience with diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds and families with a high level of deprivation Knowledge of current development in children and young people's mental health and emotional wellbeing.
