Main duties of the job Development & Delivery of Specialist Psychological Services Tailored Support for IBPS Beneficiaries:The post holder will be responsible for designing, implementing, overseeing a specialized psychological support service to meet the specific needs of IBPS beneficiaries. This will involve understanding the unique psychological and emotional impacts of the inquiry on those infected and affected, and developing services that can address these needs. Psychological Services for Haemophilia Patients:In addition to IBPS beneficiaries, the post holder will provide psychological support for patients within the Haemophilia Centre who are living with haemophilia and other related bleeding disorders. Psychological Support Services In-Person and Remote Support:The role includes delivering psychological support both in-person and via remote platforms, ensuring accessibility for patients wherever they are located. This will involve managing patient pathways and referrals, coordinating the care journey for each individual to ensure they receive the appropriate level of psychological support. Person-Centered Assessments and Treatment: Comprehensive psychological formulations to guide treatment. Development of individualized treatment plans to address the emotional and psychological needs of patients. Complex risk assessments to ensure patient safety. This includes ongoing assessment of patient satisfaction, therapeutic outcomes, and the continuous improvement of service delivery over time. Collaboration and Multidisciplinary Team Approach Collaborating with Multidisciplinary Teams (MDTs):As part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT), the post holder will work closely with nurses, medical staff, and consultant haematologists to ensure that psychological care is integrated into the wider care plan. The aim is to provide holistic care for the patient, addressing both the physical and psychological aspects of their treatment. Psychosocial Approach to Care Planning:The post holder will provide psychosocial input to the wider MDT, ensuring that psychological considerations are incorporated into the overall care planning for each patient. This includes providing advice on how to manage the psychological impact of bleeding disorders and, in the case of IBPS beneficiaries, the trauma and distress caused by the inquiry's outcomes. Consultation and Advice:The post holder will also offer consultation and expert advice to other healthcare professionals involved in the patients care, particularly regarding the psychological aspects of care for patients with haemophilia and IBPS beneficiaries. This could involve direct input into decision-making and supporting staff in addressing psychological challenges in patient management. Autonomy and Professional Guidelines Working Autonomously:The role requires a high degree of autonomy, with the post holder expected to work independently, managing complex cases and making clinical decisions within professional guidelines. Documentation and Adherence to Trust Policies:The post holder will be responsible for providing clear and comprehensive documentation of all assessments, treatments, and interactions with patients. This documentation will need to comply with professional guidelines and adhere to the Trust and IBPS policies and procedures. Psychosocial Care and Referrals:The role also involves making referrals to other psychological or support services where necessary, ensuring that patients have access to a full range of care options based on their individual needs. Person Specification Qualifications Essential doctorate or equivalent in clinical or counselling psychology HCPC registration Desirable at least 4 years post qualification expereince Accreditation in at least one specific NICE-recommended psychological therapy that is widely recommended by NICE across mental health conditions ( CBT) or for specific mental health conditions likely to be encountered in the service ( EMDR for post-traumatic stress disorder, Interpersonal Therapy for depression Qualifications Desirable training in supervision Clinical Skills and Experience Essential Good understanding of the psychology of physical health, in particular specialist blood disorders Demonstrate skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management and their application Experience of teaching, training and/or professional and clinical supervision Evidence of having worked as a clinical psychological specialist under supervision and acquired the minimum knowledge and skills equivalent to a second gateway 8a Desirable Good understanding of the history of this concern and the common psychological and physical health consequences Experience of carrying out post-doctoral research, audit and other service evaluation projects Experience of proposing and implementing service development projects within own service area Governance Essential Participation in continual professional development required by the HCPC.
