JOB PURPOSE

As our Direct Tax Manager, you will lead the management of tax compliance operations for Burberry globally. The purpose of the role is to lead all processes required for tax provisioning and reporting, tax returns, tax audit management and tax compliance generally including management of third-party service providers. Whilst the focus of this role will initially be on compliance and reporting, there are opportunities to get involved in various ad-hoc advisory projects.

This Direct Tax Manager role is offered on a full time, permanent basis and will be based in our Queen Street, Leeds office or our Horseferry House, London office for a minimum of 2/3 days per week.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Preparing and delivering the Group's year end and interim tax reporting process at both year end and half year
  • Reviewing and signing off of the Group's year end and interim local overseas tax submissions
  • Delivering the Group's outsourced global corporation tax return compliance cycle, ultimately ensuring all returns are accurate and filed on a timely basis
  • Delivering all UK tax compliance, including review of work and submissions prepared inhouse
  • Supporting with Pillar 2 compliance obligations and modelling
  • Liaising on tax matters with local external auditors as required
  • Provisioning of UK quarterly instalment payment estimate workings and wider support with cash flow forecasting
  • Supporting the wider finance teams with training and advice relating to tax compliance obligations, including tax accounting and payments
  • Leading identification of new opportunities to standardise and prepare tax returns in a more effective and efficient manner, as well as implementing improvements in tax compliance process
  • Maintaining good relations with HMRC as the primary relationship holder for compliance matters


PERSONAL PROFILE

  • Qualified (ACA/CIMA or equivalent) and/or CTA
  • Prior in-house tax reporting and compliance processes preferential or equivalent delivery of tax reporting services for clients.
  • Intermediate MS Excel skills (including Pivots, VLookups and Macros)
  • Good SAP skills
  • Very well organised with a process mindset, maintaining an eye for detail and drive for complete, accurate and timely reporting
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Experience working in a multi-national group and cross-border transactions
  • Developed understanding and practical experience of transfer pricing
  • Experience with Statutory Accounts and Local GAAP adjustments
  • Expert communicator of complex matters to a wide range of technical and non-technical stakeholders
