About the role

Our Consultants help our clients create business value through carbon, energy and sustainability management. They help them to understand their carbon footprints and then go beyond measurement to create achievable management plans and to communicate their achievements.

As part of a team, our Consultant will contribute to our overall consultancy function and take responsibility for managing and delivering a range of carbon, energy and sustainability projects.

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables:

Supporting and project managing a wide variety of projects across the EcoAct offering, including: SBTis, Corporate Carbon Footprints, Compliance including but not limited to SECR, Climate Change Agreements (CCA), Emission Trading System (ETS).

Supporting and project managing on Measurement and Reporting Systems (MRS), CDP, Environmental and Energy Management systems, Climate Finance, Life Cycle Assessment and Scope 3 Assessments.

Contributing to firm building and identifying improvements in our service offerings.

Confidently presenting to and leading client calls on project scope and deliverables. Fostering client relationships supporting them in their net zero journey.

Working with large data sets carrying out data cleansing and analysis.

Producing findings reports following research and communicate recommendations to the wider team.

Relationships Reporting to a senior member of the Advisory Team, the Consultant will be required to work closely with all members of the team, both advisory and sales, to achieve Company objectives. External relationships are a key part of the role, with a requirement to liaise with project teams, clients, overseas offices, and representatives from partner organisations.

Professional Background and Experience

Multiple years’ post-graduate experience of working within carbon and sustainability services and have supported on a range of projects, ideally demonstrated through client consulting engagements in the private sector.

Expertise on some of the following areas and a willingness to learn others is required:

Technical:

Detailed knowledge of issues surrounding climate change, energy, greenhouse gas emissions and sustainability.

Working knowledge and experience of carbon accounting, carbon measurement techniques and calculation methods for Scopes 1, 2 and 3.

Working knowledge of carbon accounting standards (ISO 14064, GHG Protocol and its variants, PAS 2050) and understanding of carbon neutrality standards such as PAS 2060.

Excellent data handling skills and advanced knowledge of Excel is essential in this role.

Working knowledge of LCA and software such as GABI would be helpful.

Familiarity with a range of approaches to target setting including science-based target methodologies, CDP, climate related risk assessment and scenario analysis.

Familiarity with the recommendations of TCFD and other guiding bodies to help companies manage and prepare against the impact of climate change.

Detailed understanding of UK legislative frameworks, such as SECR.

Professional:

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to produce well-presented, error-free results.

Experience and/or ability to work in a consultative manner to understand client needs and guide them to a solution, preferably demonstrated through client consulting engagements in the private sector.

Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage complex project deliveries across multiple simultaneous client engagements.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to speak and present information with confidence in front of an audience, lead client workshops and represent EcoAct externally.

Effective writing skills, with an ability to write concise, compelling, and well-structured documents and reports.

Commitment to supporting the team in a growing and dynamic business.

Developing intellectual and commercial assets within the company, with a focus on continuous improvement.

An ability to see the ‘big picture’, as well as focus on the detail.

Location The role is based in the UK with a flexible blend of home and office working. The role requires attendance at the London head office as necessary for business purposes.
