The mission of the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology (ION) is to translate neuroscience discovery research into treatments for patients with neurological diseases. We are a leading translational neuroscience centre based within the Faculty of Brain Sciences at UCL, and closely associated with the National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery (NHNN), University College London Hospitals' NHS Foundation Trust.
The ION Head Office, led by the Institute Manager, is part of the Institute’s Professional Services team. It provides local professional support services for all operational aspects of the Institute, including HR, Finance, Research, Education, Library, Web Development and Communications, Laboratory Operations, Health & Safety, and Events functions. The team works in close liaison with, and observes the requirements of, its corresponding teams within the Faculty and central UCL.
About the role
The promotion of action against climate change and towards more sustainable practices is a key activity at the ION. We are now seeking an enthusiastic, proactive and engaged Project Manager to join the Institute’s Climate Crisis Committee and to support the Deputy Director (Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability) in continuing to drive our strategy forward, and project manage our strategy, actions, and events. Key to this role is supporting evidence-based delivery of the ION’s strategy through creating and maintaining data systems, obtaining, collating, analysing, and presenting data, and producing statistics, infographics, and reports. You’ll ensure that submissions for future climate and sustainability requirements reflect Institute plans by taking a major role in coordinating data gathering, analysing the data and producing relevant charts, and drafting of submissions in close collaboration with the Institute and UCL leads as above. You will also be responsible for maintaining the Institute climate change and sustainability webpages, coordinating relevant workshops, and working groups, and lead on rolling out relevant training and events. This role is available immediately and funded for two years in the first instance. This role is eligible for hybrid working with a minimum of 40% of time on site. About you
You’ll be knowledgeable about current issues, policy, and best practice in relation to climate change and sustainability in higher education, understand the intersection between climate change, health, and neuroscience, and be committed to the promotion of sustainability and climate change action. Experience of undertaking research activities and collating and analysing data, advanced Excel skills, and excellent project management skills are also essential for this role. This role does not meet the eligibility requirements for a Skilled Worker Visa certificate of sponsorship under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore UCL will not be able to sponsor individuals who require right to work in the UK to carry out this role. What we offer
