PREVIOUS CANDIDATES NEED NOT APPLY We are looking for a Specialty doctor [substantive] who will work with the national neuropsychiatry service at St George’s Hospital. You will work alongside consultant colleagues and an MDT. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic team and a growing service. You will join the neuropsychiatry service based at St George’s hospital which is closely allied to the Atkinson Morley Regional Neurosciences Centre. It is an outpatient service which covers over 3 million population and receives referrals from neurologists, psychiatrists or from GPs. A wide range of neuropsychiatric conditions are assessed and managed within the service. In order to be eligible to apply, candidates must clearly demonstrate on their application form that they have completed their FY1 and FY2 Foundation training (or equivalent). In addition, candidates must have 2 years experience in Psychiatry, i.e., a minimum of 4 years clinical experience as a doctor. Main duties of the job

The post is based at St George’s Hospital. The post holder will have expertise in diagnosing and treating mental health problems associated with various neurological conditions, functional neurological disorder and other organic psychiatric conditions. The post holder will be responsible for providing general neuropsychiatry outpatient clinics and doing assessments on various neurosciences wards. The post holder will work closely with the existing neuropsychiatry consultants and the lead Consultant will provide clinical supervision and share responsibility for general neuropsychiatry outpatients. The post holder will liaise with a multidisciplinary team within neuropsychiatry and at the neurosciences centre. The post holder, in conjunction with other members of the multidisciplinary team, will be responsible for assessing and developing treatment plans for neuropsychiatric problems in the outpatient setting. The post holder will also provide consultation and commit to supervision of other team members as required. Person specification

Qualifications

Primary Medical degree. Full GMC registration. MRCPsych or equivalent. Section 12 (2) approval of the Mental Health Act or be willing to apply for such approval once in post. One year training in neuropsychiatry or over 1 year experience of working in neuropsychiatry. Included on the GMC's Specialist Register or eligible for such inclusion. Experience of working in Liaison Psychiatry. Knowledge

Specialist training in the treatment of patients with psychiatric conditions. Experience of working in neuropsychiatry, neurosciences or general hospital settings. Experience

Completed at least four years full time post graduate training (or its equivalent) at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty or as a fixed term trainee or have equivalent experience and competencies. Some knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Mental capacity Act, the functions of the Mental Health Review Tribunals and Hospital Managers' Hearings. Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team. Experience of managing functional neurological disorders. Experience of delivering psychological / behavioural treatments in neuropsychiatric conditions. Experience of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Management

Ability to manage and adapt to change. Contribute to developing practice through clinical audit. Evidence of leadership ability. Evidence of managerial training or experience. Management Research

Willing to participate in research. Experience of carrying out research, audit or service development projects. Initiative
