Consultant Old Age Psychiatry Salary: £107,144 - £142,369 per annum Plus Distant Islands Allowance of £1,349 Plus up to £8,000 relocation expenses 40 hours per week Permanent post Have you got a passion for remote and rural medicine? This is an exciting chance to join our team of two Consultants in Psychiatry, where you will become part of the NHS Western Isles family, and will have the chance to develop your skills and confidence within a supportive team, with the remote island location providing a very special extra sense of reward. Known as Scotland’s Atlantic Islands, the Western Isles are steeped in history and culture, with stunning landscapes, spectacular coastlines, a strong sense of community and identity, and renowned Hebridean hospitality. For those with young families, the Western Isles also offer a safe place to live, a high-quality education system, with low levels of crime. We are inviting applications for the post of Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry. Applicants must be on the GMC Specialist Register, with License to Practice, or be eligible for inclusion on the Specialist Register within 6 months of the date of interview. Applicants would be fully supported whilst working toward this. We are also willing to consider applications for a Job Share. You will be based in Western Isles Hospital in Stornoway, a modern 97-bed Rural General Hospital. Working in the largest of Scotland’s islands offers a unique opportunity to combine modern and progressive clinical practice with a lifestyle that is difficult to match. NHS Terms and Conditions of the New Consultant Grade (Scotland) 2004 apply. The post is for 10 PAs (8 DCC + 2 SPAs) per week plus up to a maximum of 2 EPAs per week and an 8% availability allowance subject to an agreed job plan. The on-call rota is 1:2.
