About the Role We are looking for a multi-talented Systems Operations Engineer to offer skills and experience with a strong track record of designing, building, and maintaining a production environment. These skills will be necessary in helping Planet to digitally transform our core offerings, through modernising and scaling its environments to meet the needs of our customers. What you will do You will join the Systems Operations team in: Develop as an SME for all production applications collaborating with all other ITSM and development teams. Responsibility to diagnose and troubleshoot problems and issues in the production environment. Integrating with development teams as part of SDLC process. Ownership of the disaster recovery function in the Planet business continuity plan. Ensure a consistent approach to change management of production applications, in line with defined processes for all ITSM and development teams. Continuously review environments with development and infrastructure teams to ensure service uptime targets are achieved and support our future growth needs. Research new technologies to enhance production applications to improve service uptime and reliability. Who you are Strong technical leadership skills. Highly energetic and ambitious. Excellent analytical, organizational & communication skills. Have a passion for simplification and efficiency/process improvement. The ability to organise and prioritise workloads while acting on own initiative. Inclusive approach to work and interest in working across a global team. What you will need to bring to Planet IT, Electronics degree or relevant experience. Networking knowledge. Advanced Linux OS knowledge. SQL knowledge. Scripting or any other programming language is a plus (ex. Python/PowerShell). Configuration Management Platform knowledge is a plus (SCCM/SCOM, Ansible, Puppet, Chef etc) Azure or AWS admin knowledge is a plus Any Container-based solution is a plus (eg. Kubernetes) Exposure to JIRA and Confluence (ITIL/Agile) Fluent English (spoken and written); Other language is an asset (French, German, Spanish, etc.). Availability to work shifts/nights/weekends.
