Communication Manager – London/ Hybrid

Are you a Communication Manager with experience working in complex global organisations? Do you have outstanding writing and editing skills, with a talent for storytelling and engaging diverse audiences? If so, come and join us as our next Communications Manager, supporting colleagues engagement and leadership communications within UK Commercial Risk. This is a hybrid role based in London, offering the flexibility to work in the office and virtually too. Aon is in the business of better decisions

At Aon, we shape decisions for the better to protect and enrich the lives of people around the world. As an organisation, we are united through trust as one inclusive, diverse team, and we are passionate about helping our colleagues and clients succeed. What the day will look like

Work with the Head of Internal Communications to devise the overall communication strategy for aligned business segment(s) or division(s) that considers all audiences and levels and is consistent with Aon’s communication strategy and practices. Work as a business partner with senior executives to support key initiatives and strengthen colleagues’ understanding of business goals and impact. Responsibilities include identifying communication objectives, brainstorming creative solutions, and implementing communications plans using multiple communication channels. Support a variety of internal events/activities, including Town Halls, roadshows, and leadership events. Manage a demanding workload, creating a wide range of communication deliverables – including written, face-to-face, video, voice, online – to engage and inform all levels of colleagues through effective storytelling. Provide support on external communications, including press releases and social media. Build and maintain relevant, timely and compelling communication channels, evaluating their efficiency and continually refining. Develop understanding of external client needs and interests and reflect those in internal messaging on a regular basis. Collaborate closely with communicators across other segments and regions to align timing and intent of messages. Successfully manage and prioritise a significant and varied workload. How this opportunity is different

The Internal Communications Business Partner is a key member of Aon’s UK Communications team, responsible for creating effective communication strategies to support growth strategies and people priorities. The individual manages a wide range of communication projects in support of Aon’s growth, with a specific focus on the UK Commercial Risk function – partnering with the leadership team of this important part of our business. The partner provides essential communication guidance for key leaders (again, with a focus on Commercial Risk) and develops and implements communication plans for business and change initiatives. While the role is predominantly internally focused, aspects of the role will include collating and disseminating Aon material for external audiences via our External Communications team. The Internal Communications Business Partner interacts effectively with senior leaders, managers, and project teams to assess communication needs, define objectives, identify audiences, and develop key messages. They use both innovative approaches and proven solutions to deliver communications that drive alignment and deliver business outcomes. Skills and experience that will lead to success

The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience in communications, in a professional environment and likely working with complex or international organisations. You will have exceptional writing and editing skills. A natural communicator, you will have a keen eye for what makes a story and you’ll be used to working with others to achieve what works best for the business as a whole, managing those relationships and the expectations of key parts of the organisation. You will therefore be comfortable dealing with internal stakeholders at a range of levels. Once settled in your role, you will be comfortable operating independently and, drawing on your knowledge and experience, be able to navigate the demands of an increasingly busy communications function. How we support our colleagues

In addition to our comprehensive benefits package, we encourage a diverse workforce. Plus, our agile, inclusive environment allows you to manage your wellbeing and work/life balance, ensuring you can be your best self at Aon. Furthermore, all colleagues enjoy two “Global Wellbeing Days” each year, encouraging you to take time to focus on yourself. We offer a variety of working style solutions, but we also recognise that flexibility goes beyond just the place of work... and we are all for it. We call this Smart Working! Our continuous learning culture inspires and equips you to learn, share and grow, helping you achieve your fullest potential. As a result, at Aon, you are more connected, more relevant, and more valued. Aon values an innovative, diverse workplace where all colleagues feel empowered to be their authentic selves. Aon is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace.
