Electro-Motive Diesel are seeking a Health, Safety and Environmental Lead to join our QHSE team. Our ideal candidate will have experience working within a rail safety critical environment, be knowledgeable on the relevant legal and industry responsibilities and standards and be able to demonstrate a genuine passion for improving HSE standards, knowledge and performance. Reporting to the QHSE Manager, the role is critical in delivering timely and effective health, safety and environmental support and advice across the business. You will take a hands-on approach to ensuring the company operates a "safety first" culture; leading on training and coaching, overseeing the reporting and investigation of incidents and embedding a continuous improvement approach to our HSE culture and performance. The successful candidate will have a real opportunity to lead on the areas of responsibility, shaping and influencing the companies processes and performance. This is a multisite role with the requirement to regularly visit our depots throughout the UK and Europe. This will involve overnight stays and occasional out of hours work as and when required. Due to the nature of the position a flexible approach to work will be required. Responsibilities

Providing expert advice and support to staff at all levels of the business Interpretation of relevant legislation, codes of practice, guidance etc and relaying these in an appropriate manner to relevant staff. Ensuring that all policies and practices are regularly reviewed and updated as required. Supporting operational teams with the production of risk assessments and safe systems of work Ensure all accidents are documented, investigated and recommended improvements are implemented Undertaking of occupational exposure monitoring, assisting external providers as required. Provide advice on risk management and health surveillance Assist with the development and undertaking of HSE Audits and Assessment Plans Proactively identifying key-areas of non-compliance and improvement and take action alongside site management for improvement Develop and deliver HSE training and identify suitable external providers as required Take the lead on coordinating and facilitating safety committee meetings Accurate production and reporting of metrics Deputise for QHSE Manager as and when required. Competencies/Experience

Knowledgeable of requirements for working within a rail safety critical environment Demonstrable experience developing, communicating and embedding policies, systems and procedures Experience training and coaching others, both in groups and 1-2-1, to develop knowledge and improve performance Able to cultivate productive relationships across the organisation Methodical, evidence-based approach to problem solving and decision making Willing and able to be assertive when necessary, whilst maintaining effective working relationships Naturally inquisitive with a focus on continuous improvement Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines Excellent planning and co-ordination skills Team player, able to influence others and demonstrate exceptional diplomacy skills Self-starter, willing to take accountability for own areas of responsibility and work under own initiative Qualifications

Minimum level 3 Health & Safety qualification eg NEBOSH National Certificate Minimum TechIOSH, preferred CertIOSH or equivalent Full UK driving licence Hours: Monday - Friday, 37.5 hour week We can offer you
