Are you interested in developing specialist paediatric physiotherapy skills within a supportive multidisciplinary team? An excellent opportunity has arisen within Brent paediatric therapy services for a B5 paediatric physiotherapist. This exciting post will offer experience and training in community paediatric physiotherapy, giving you an opportunity to develop your skills and competencies across a range of different ages and paediatric conditions in community settings. You will be based at The Village Special School and will receive support from a B7 specialist physiotherapist within the team and the B4 physiotherapy assistant. There will also be opportunities to support CYP in community settings, including home visits and clinics. We are seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic paediatric physiotherapist with appropriate physiotherapy skills to join our friendly, supportive paediatric therapy team of physiotherapists, occupational therapists and speech and language therapists and assistants. We are dedicated to developing innovative services and work collaboratively with our local Child Developmental Team, Education and Social Care services, with joint assessments and discussion forums. Main duties of the job

JOB PURPOSE To support provision of a high-quality children's physiotherapy service to a caseload of children and young people with identified physiotherapy needs and of children and young people with physiotherapy outcomes identified in their Educational Health and Care Plans (EHCP). The post holder will provide specialist physiotherapy to children attending special schools and community settings. The post holder will be supported using the APCP Professional Development Programme, regular support, supervision, and in-service training. To carry out specific assessments and interventions with children and young people, as delegated by a senior Physiotherapist. To carry a caseload and work independently in special school and community settings, to support children and young people's physiotherapy needs as appropriate and physiotherapy needs as outlined in their EHC plans. To support and work with Physiotherapy Assistants to implement therapy programmes to identified children and young people. As a member of the integrated team you will provide a high-quality physiotherapy service to Children & Young People, aged 0 to 19 years in Brent. You will hold a varied SEN caseload and will be expected to undertake specialist Physiotherapy assessments and devise client-centred treatment interventions. The post holder will also contribute to physiotherapy plans for young people transitioning into adult services. About us

Education/Qualification

Essential

Degree or equivalent Diploma/Qualification in Physiotherapy Registration with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) Member of Chartered Society of Physiotherapy Desirable

Expertise in the specialist field of paediatrics incorporating a wide range of theory and evidence-based practice Member of APCP Experience

Essential

Experience of working with CYP with a wide range of long-term disabilities and short-term illness Experience working with tertiary or voluntary community-based services Experience working with clients from diverse cultures. Understanding of cultural differences and their impact on PT provision. Experience in working with children Desirable

Experience in working with CYP with SEND Experience of working in health/social care in the community Experience with the NHS patient information database (e.g. SystmOne, RiO, EMIS). Qualification in working with children Work in special and mainstream schools Experience of psychosocial aspects of working with families of children with disabilities Skills and knowledge

Essential

Basic knowledge of the developmental stages of children and young people An ability to use clinical and ethical reasoning skills to analyse and interpret assessment findings, plan and evaluate intervention programme Basic knowledge of common paediatric conditions and a basic understanding of their impact on functional ability. Basic knowledge of legislation relating to child health and education Ability to reflect on clinical practice and experience. An understanding of the boundaries and scope of practice of the Physiotherapist role Desirable

Experience of teaching/presentation skills appropriate for teaching professionals and peers in an in-service training setting.
