Job Description

Our client, a leader in the Defense sector, is seeking a Financial Controller to join their dynamic team in Bristol, UK. This permanent role involves leading the accounting and financial reporting for the UK business unit, ensuring compliant, timely, and accurate financial reporting while maintaining strong internal controls.

Key Responsibilities: Lead a team providing general accounting, transactional accounting, and financial reporting services. Ensure controls are designed and operating effectively to address risk and maintain compliance with accounting policies. Handle local statutory reporting and financial statement delivery, working effectively with auditors. Support intercompany billing processes, including loaned labour processing and reconciliation of intercompany activity. Manage monthly close activities including journal entry and account reconciliation review, and financial analytics. Ensure revenue recognition is appropriately recognized and documented. Coordinate work during monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles to meet deadlines. Proactively identify and implement process improvements. Maintain and update process documentation including Sarbanes Oxley narrative documents. Job Requirements:

Qualified with a recognised accounting body (ACMA, ACCA etc), with significant post-qualified experience. Experience in the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to execute challenging tasks. Exceptional organisational skills for monitoring key due dates and activities. Experience in a complex ERP environment. Experience with facilitating internal and external audits. Flexible planner capable of reacting to changing requirements and priorities. Ability to develop cooperative relationships with various groups and individuals.
