University Hospitals Bristol and Weston provide a NHS Children and Young People's Gender Service in the South West (CYPGS). We are looking for an experienced trainer and educator of health care professionals in relation to the psychological aspects of this specialist field of children's health. This senior role will be to work with the Clinical Director and Clinical Lead to develop, implement and maintain proactive and responsive training programmes for the large multi-professional CYPGS team (clinical and non-clinical). We expect the staff in this service to experience exceptional pressure and anticipate that training and education will help the team manage this. The senior role will also involve leadership of the internal CYPGS trainers and may include an element of clinical service delivery at a senior level. This will provide a balanced yet challenging job plan for a Consultant Clinical Psychologist with a proven track record for delivery of innovative and effective training programmes in this field. Main duties of the job

Advise the Clinical Director, Clinical Lead and Consultants within the CYPGS about training and continuing professional development for the staff of the CYPGS. Develop and lead the delivery of CYPGS training with the senior leadership and CYPGS trainers. Management and coordination of training projects and policies for internal and external training. Present training methods and outcomes locally, regionally and nationally. Working for our organisation

Qualifications and training

Doctorate in clinical psychology/counselling psychology or equivalent. Current registration as a practitioner psychologist with the Health Care Professions Council. Training appropriate theoretical models for use in the post. Management/leadership training. Knowledge and Experience

Knowledge and extensive experience of working as a Clinical Psychologist providing NHS training services. Extensive experience of providing training in relation to CYP Gender. Extensive experience working within health care to provide large training events, public speaking and presenting data at professional meetings. Extensive experience of formal teaching / presentation sessions to health and other professionals. Demonstrable knowledge of strategic principles relating to Equality Diversity and Inclusion. Knowledge and experience of using appropriate theoretical approaches to working with staff groups and patients. Experience of providing senior leadership and clinical services within a specialist health setting. Experience of proposing and implementing service development projects within own service area (training and professional development). Record of publications in either peer-reviewed, academic or professional journals/books, and conference presentations. Advanced communication skills, including the ability to provide and receive highly complex and sensitive information to and from staff and organisations. Skills and Abilities

Ability to generate and teach on systemic and individual psychological formulations and triage/deliver brief interventions based on applying psychological theories and models. Advanced communication skills with the ability to communicate and teach on highly complex and sensitive information. Ability to access, record and manage information and data pertaining to the work undertaken. Ability to prioritise and manage available time for clinical, managerial and professional activities effectively. Able to travel as required. Well-developed IT skills including entry and analysis of research data. Skills in providing teaching and training to other professional groups.
