We are seeking enthusiastic and dynamic individuals for qualified ACP posts within the Interim Wait Unit (IWU) on Victoria ward at Whittington Health, based at the main hospital site in Archway. After a successful pilot in 2023/2024, we are now establishing a permanent unit to support ongoing demand for patients who do not meet the Criteria to Reside. The IWU will be nursing and AHP led with a nominated Consultant responsible for patients transferred to the ward. The level of support to be provided on the unit is expected to be equivalent to the level of care provided in a community bed or a residential level care. This new ACP post will provide day-to-day senior clinical support 7 days per week, with out-of-hours medical support provided by the current on-call doctor arrangements for acute wards. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, the post holder will collaborate closely with consultants, GPs, pharmacists, nurses, therapists, and healthcare support workers. The role requires a high level of autonomy and complex decision-making, supported by a master's level qualification encompassing clinical practice, leadership, management, education, and research. The post holder will manage clinical care in partnership with individuals, families, and carers, analyzing complex problems to devise innovative solutions that enhance outcomes and experiences. Some expected activities would include daily board round with MDT input to progress active discharge plans, assessment of deteriorating patients, regular and stat prescriptions, preparation of discharge summaries and responding to emergencies on the unit.
