This substantive post is that of Consultant Psychiatrist with the North Islington Community Recovery and Rehabilitation Team (6 PAs). This is a replacement post following the previous consultant taking up a different role elsewhere. National terms and conditions apply to this post. Inner London Weighting applies. This role will develop as we move forward with implementing the Community Mental Health Framework (CMHF). As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will be involved in leading future developments and implementing the North London mental health trusts clinical strategy. Main Duties of the Job

The post holder will work 6 PAs in the North Islington Recovery & Rehabilitation Team, a community mental health team that treats people with psychotic illnesses. The North Islington Recovery Team is part of the care pathway for patients in HoNOS care clusters 11, 12 and 13, i.e., patients with psychotic illnesses. The care pathway applies the recovery model of care. It delivers evidence-based treatments to patients living in the northern part of Islington. The team is based at 1 Lowther Road, London N7 8US, and is co-located with the Core Team, The Personality Disorder Team, and the Community Rehab Team. The team operates between 9 am - 5 pm Monday to Friday. About Us

Job Responsibilities

Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and a license to practice. Must be on the specialist register or within 6 months of gaining a Certificate of Completion of Training. Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent higher qualification in psychiatry. Section 12(2) and Approved Clinician status (or eligibility) - qualifies to act as a Responsible Clinician Registered with Royal College of Psychiatrists CPD programme and in good standing. Clinical knowledge & experience of the full range of mental disorders including those with severe enduring mental illnesses & personality disorders. Trained as an Educational Supervisor for doctors in training. Training as a Consultant mentor. Experience in teaching small and large groups. Knowledge and Experience

Knowledge and observance of the requirements and duties of a doctor laid down by the GMC in Good Medical Practice. Clinical knowledge & experience of the full range of mental disorders including those with severe enduring mental illnesses & personality disorders. Experience in the assessment and management of complex clinical cases including experience of crisis/emergency high-risk presentations. Expertise in risk assessment, formulation, and management. Experience of community psychiatry and interest and experience of working with individuals with severe personality difficulties/disorders. Skills & Abilities

Ability to be flexible and adaptable to change. Ability to effectively communicate ideas and influence others. Good knowledge of and ability to use both spoken and written English. Ability to organise workload and manage time and delegate responsibility where appropriate. Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions. £105,504 to £139,882 a year plus £2,162 of London Zone Weighting per year.
