Innovative & dynamic in their approach, the postholder will be skilled at building relationships at all levels and support/motivate staff in this complex and demanding field of practice. Demonstrating a high level of interpersonal & communication skills, including the application of tact & diplomacy in challenging situations is essential for this role. Working with the Executive Director of Quality & Nursing (EDQN) to provide board-level assurance that services within the Trust are being provided in accordance with the relevant legislation and professional requirements. The role requires strong professional leadership with the highest level of interpersonal and communication skills to enable and empower all staff to develop best practice and inspire progressive change. Main duties of the job

Working in partnership with key partners internally/externally to strategically influence & support the development/advancement of nursing. Represent the Trust on the all-Wales Deputy Directors of Nursing Peer Group & contribute to the associated work plan as required. A key clinical leadership position responsible for driving forward high-quality evidence-based care for sustainable change, transformation & improvement to enhance patient experience & outcomes, contributes to population health & optimises efficiencies across NHS Wales. Work with the Executive Director to develop the Trust's approach to value-based healthcare/health economics informed approaches to quality improvement/service evaluation, including through quality & equality impact assessments. Accountable for all aspects of nursing services i.e. professional practice, workforce, delivery of high-quality evidence-based care & financial performance through culture, strategy, people & resource management. Provide clinical leadership, be a professional visible role model for nurses. Ensure that professional standards are maintained & will drive forward innovation & continuous learning & foster a culture of multi-disciplinary & professional working. Highly effective in this senior clinical/strategic nurse leadership role, lead and manage several teams. Responsible for the successful delivery of an extensive portfolio to ensure that the Trust is delivering in all aspects for which they are accountable. About us

Qualifications and Knowledge

Registered Nurse (NMC) Master's level in relevant health-related degree or appropriate equivalent experience Evidence of ongoing continuous professional development Advanced specialist knowledge across leadership, service development, clinical, and quality domains. Ability to understand and analyse data such as clinical outcomes, patient harm, and performance data. Cognisant of the socio-economic and political environment in Wales. PhD. Experience

Extensive post-registration experience including working at Board level and evidence of having operated across a wide range of complex clinical settings Highly specialist knowledge and experience in all areas of function Proven ability to work in complex situations with many differing partners including patients and families Extensive experience with dealing with emotional and distressing situations Considerable experience at working at a national level and working across organisations and boundaries Track record of sound financial management combined with experience of developing effective business cases to secure additional funding as required Demonstrable achievement in influencing colleagues to deliver targets and maintain performance Demonstrable achievement in advancing and developing clinical services Able to challenge across professional and organisational boundaries Evidence of managing change through redesign Evidence of performance reviews Evidence of chairing national meetings, organising committee work programmes, and projects Role modelling professional conduct, openness, and inclusion Encouraging innovative thinking in self and others Working under pressure, demonstrating resilience, confidence, and self-belief in these situations Meeting tough deadlines and managing conflicting priorities Working on own initiative to deliver Trust Policies and guidelines Adapting leadership style and communication style to suit the situation and person(s) Demonstrating a commitment to the values and principles of a public service - health and social care in particular Writing concise reports Problem solving on own initiative Effective working without supervision Effectively managing change Able to demonstrate clinical work in a variety of practice settings Formal management training Appreciation of wider healthcare management Skills and Attributes
