Main duties of the job The job role will comprise a mixture of inpatient care and day case procedure lists on the Winchester site with outpatient clinics undertaken from the Winchester and Andover sites. Successful applicants will work alongside the current severe asthma team to expand existing services and optimize care delivery for asthma patients.

About us Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the major provider of hospital services to the population of North and mid Hampshire and surrounding areas. The hospitals in Basingstoke and Winchester provide a comprehensive range of acute services as well as being a tertiary referral centre for colorectal, liver, peritoneal carcinomatosis, haemophilia and pseudomyxoma surgery.
The Trust covers a population of 600,000 incorporating Basingstoke & North Hampshire Hospitals (BNHH), Royal Hampshire County Hospital (RHCH) in Winchester, Andover War Memorial Hospital (AWMH) and community hospitals. BNHH and RHCH are 23 miles apart, situated in the middle of the M3 corridor, with excellent transport links to London and the south coast.

Person Specification Professional Qualifications
MBBS/MRCP or equivalent
Licence to practice and full registration with GMC
Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register in RM and GIM via CCT/ CESR or within 6 months of completion of CCT at time of interview
Distinctions, Scholarships prizes, other degrees eg BSc MSc, MS
Higher degree (MD/PhD) or working towards
Clinical Experience & Knowledge
Broad experience of general Respiratory Medicine
Recent experience of managing general medical patients
Medical Thoracoscopy experience
Cardiopulmonary exercise testing experience - supervising and interpretation.
Clinical Skills & Ability
Thorough understanding of principles of medical audit as well as QUIP
Cardiopulmonary exercise test interpretation and experience.
Research & Teaching skills
An understanding of general principles, scientific method and interpretation of literature.
Commitment to teaching of both undergraduates and postgraduates and evidence of active participation in teaching and education
Evidence of personal research
Projects and their presentation.
Publications in peer-reviewed journals.
MD/PhD
Attendance at specialist programmes to improve teaching/educational skills.
Expertise in teaching.
Other Specific Requirements

To have undertaken a postgraduate course on communication skills (or ensure that you have undertaken one within one year of appointment)
