We are looking for band 5 staff nurses who appreciate the challenge and reward of working in a fast-paced environment in which we provide life-saving care. As a newly refurbished major trauma ward, we are looking for staff who have a keen interest in the speciality and where possible 12 months experience within an acute healthcare setting. The Major Trauma Ward is the main ward receiving acute patients who have suffered from major trauma events and life-threatening/changing injuries. St George's is also a specialist centre where we care for complex hip/knees, pelvis, and acetabular problems. There is a wide range of orthopaedic problems cared for on the ward. Our nurses focus on developing their skills and confidence to work independently while improving their knowledge of the speciality to provide high quality, evidence-based care & advice to patients in a compassionate manner. Main duties of the job

Our Major trauma ward provides acute and elective services to St Georges Hospitals and to an extensive tertiary network. The ward is a dynamic and high acuity, 22 bedded general surgery ward. Our primary focus is major trauma, intensive care step downs, elective hips, knees, and pelvis acetabular problems. You will be part of the team that looks after patients on arrival from the emergency department and throughout their surgical journey until they are discharged/ transferred. The successful candidate must be flexible and on occasion assist in providing cover for other wards. All our nurses are expected to maintain excellent standards in line with the Trust's policies & procedures with support from the senior nursing team. You will be expected to role model and support and encourage student nurses & junior staff as St Georges' is a teaching hospital. About us
