In this role, you’ll secure our platform, design scalable solutions and clear roadblocks to empower our development teams. This is a pivotal position within our Cloud Platforms team, requiring strong communication skills, a proactive problem-solving mindset and a collaborative approach to working across teams at Trade Me. Build commercial expertise as you ensure our technical systems are robust and effective in supporting business outcomes. What You’ll Do: Build and maintain a scalable Core Data Platform. Ensure the reliability and availability of our data platform. Follow best practices to guarantee data privacy and security. Plan and deliver platform changes inspired by DevOps practices. Join the on-call roster and respond to incidents involving the data platform. What We’re Looking For: 2 to 5 years of experience administering PostgreSQL or SQL Server. Ability to manage database infrastructure in a public cloud. Experience participating in an on-call roster. Solid knowledge of Windows Clustering and Windows Server O/S. Familiarity with Linux or Serverless apps (a bonus, but not required). Strong understanding of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) concepts. Experienced in scripting languages, like T-SQL, Powershell, Python, and Terraform. Knowledge of cloud data services and their use cases. Ability to make calm, informed decisions under pressure. Excellent communication skills, both in-person and via collaboration tools. Self-motivated and proactive in identifying ways to improve the platform.
