Kings College Hospital is looking for an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and motivated Clinical Nurse Specialist to lead the Nursing team for the South East London Breast Screening Service. The post holder will oversee and line manage the breast screening nursing team, ensuring high-quality patient care and innovative service delivery throughout the breast screening patient pathway. The post holder will work collaboratively with the screening service leads, cancer treatment teams across South East London and breast screening health promotion specialist. This is a demanding role therefore we are seeking a very well organised, energetic and self-motivated person who is able to manage their own time and workload. You must have current professional registration and recent relevant clinical experience. You will be required to demonstrate excellent clinical, professional, communication, IT / data analytical, and persuading / influencing skills. Main duties of the job
To lead the delivery of a high quality specialist nursing service for clients within the South East London Breast Screening Service. To be responsible for the professional leadership of the Specialist Nurses within Breast Screening, demonstrating a supportive and flexible leadership approach and a proactive and responsible attitude in order to promote confidence in the team and the service. To contribute to the strategic development of Breast Radiology and the National Breast Screening Programme. Advise the directorate on matters pertaining to the provision of the specialist Breast Care Nursing Service across the Trust. To provide professional and clinical leadership and expertise in the speciality of Breast Care Nursing within Breast Screening and to act as a resource for education and clinical expertise in both hospital and community settings. To set and monitor standards of care and to be responsible for a high quality patient experience through the Breast Screening trajectory. To explore current practice, identifying areas for development, and planning the appropriate changes using research and experience to evaluate the outcomes. To work closely with Radiology Clinical Leads and Matrons to support service delivery across the speciality. Person Specification
Qualifications
NMC Registered Nurse UK recognised degree in Nursing/equivalent Post registration qualification in breast cancer/breast care Advanced Communication Skills Course Masters level qualification in relevant subject or equivalent professional knowledge acquired through specialist training or working towards Masters level Management or leadership course Knowledge and Experience
In-depth knowledge of the National Breast Screening Programme, discipline roles and expectations within breast screening Experience of working in a CNS post, band 7 or above in breast screening and or breast care Proven experience and ability to assess, plan, deliver and evaluate individualised and evidence based nursing care to screening patients and patients diagnosed with breast cancer Proven advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of breast cancer diagnostic and treatment pathways Disclosure and Barring Service Check
