To work in collaboration with a team of Podiatrists and other health care professionals, organisations and agencies to ensure seamless and high quality care for all patients. To monitor supervise and delegate podiatry services delivered by support staff including junior clinicians, Podiatry Assistants and to mentor students during placements. To liaise with and refer to the direction of Specialist Clinicians when necessary and as appropriate. Main duties of the job

Ensure that policies, procedures, clinical governance arrangements and lines of accountability are in place, appropriate and well communicated to all staff to ensure safe clinical service delivery. To be aware of, and act in accordance with, the Trust's clinical and organizational policies and guidelines. To be aware of and act in accordance with, the HCPC Code of Conduct, Standards and Guidelines and to work within the codes of professional practice. Job responsibilities

To autonomously assess and diagnose patients with a diverse range of medical and podiatric conditions, using appropriate diagnostic techniques, skills and tools. This includes sharp debridement of lesions, administration of local anaesthesia, whilst quantifying the maximum safe doses, nail surgery, and use of noxious caustics. To create and implement a tailored treatment and specialized care plans using a variety of appropriate treatment regimes for a range of patient groups including those in the high risk and at risk categories focusing on the management of primary foot pathologies. To recommend the use of a limited number of prescription medicines. To recognise and oversee the referral of urgent or exceptional cases, to other services, for further investigation, to suggest a diagnosis and/or for specialist treatment. To deliver care in a range of settings i.e. clinic based, patients own home etc. To adopt a problem solving approach, engaging patients and carers in their treatment plan, negotiating on agreed outcomes, gaining consent and educating patients and carers on self-care. To continually evaluate and review treatment outcomes, refer to other health care professionals and podiatry clinical specialists to ensure appropriate care. To implement the service discharge policy for those patients not meeting the access to treatment criteria. Person Specification

Education/Qualification

BSc Degree In Podiatric Medicine or Diploma (if qualified prior 1991) Evidence of continual professional and personal development Registration with the Health Professions Council Certificate in local anaesthesia Evidence of post grad training in specialist area of podiatry Experience

Post graduate clinical experience of multidisciplinary and interagency working Experience of working with a wide range of patient and disease / pathology types including the at-risk and high-risk foot Experience of working as part of a specialist team (clinical rotation experience accepted) Experience of working in an NHS environment Experience of clinical supervision / mentoring Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions. £21.88 an hour. Weekly pay will include: Basic pay + HCAS + 12.07% Holiday pay.
