Fellow in Medical Education (Undergraduate) - Psychiatry NELFT North East London Foundation Trust Applications are invited from CT3 Trainees and SpR/ST4-6 for appointment to a Fellow in Medical Education (FME) placement.

This unique post offers an exciting opportunity to develop experience and skills as a medical educator. The Fellowship will consist of an out of programme experience for a period of twelve months attached to the Department of Medical Education within North East London NHS Foundation Trust.

The role follows a hybrid work structure where the postholder can work remotely, from the Simulation Centre, or any other site depending on service requirements.

We recommend that you discuss this with your Training Programme Director(s) before applying.

Main Duties of the Job The successful applicant will play an active role in the teaching and training of undergraduate medical students, junior doctors, and other medical staff within NELFT, Barts & The London School of Medicine and Dentistry (SMD), and the London Deanery.

About Us NELFT covers a large geographical area, and the role requires you to have the ability to travel effectively throughout these sites when required.

Job Responsibilities The main responsibilities within the role involve collaboration with the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Medical Education to develop and deliver the in-house teaching programme for undergraduate medical students undertaking Psychiatry placements within the Trust. This will include contributing to regular student induction days, coordinating fellow psychiatric resident doctors to teach students, organizing and delivering clinical interview skills simulation training, leading weekly student reflective practice groups, and organizing the Trust's annual A-level student work experience summer school programme.

The role expects the postholder to actively contribute to the development and delivery of the Trust's postgraduate education programme for resident doctors and other medical professionals.

The postholder will undertake projects in medical education, under the supervision of the Director of Medical Education, Undergraduate Associate Dean, postgraduate tutors, and the medical education manager, and will be supported to attend a formal university course in medical education, with potential to pursue this to diploma or master's level.

To ensure that the postholder maintains their clinical involvement during the attachment, it would be beneficial to carry out two sessions of clinical work per week in a psychiatric subspecialty of choice within NELFT.

The successful applicant has an optional on-call commitment at either core or higher trainee level, which will be remunerated appropriately.
