Job Summary: Ruggable is seeking a talented and self-motivated Director of Textile Design to join our growing international team. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for creating innovative and culturally relevant rug designs for our UK and European markets. Your designs will reflect the latest trends in home décor and appeal to a diverse customer base. This is our first international design hire and the right candidate will be excited by the prospect of building up our design capability in the UK. They will be responsible for end-to-end delivery of European collections - from setting the creative direction to rolling up their sleeves to create the final textile designs. This role can be based in either London or Birmingham with a hybrid schedule (office/remote). Our manufacturing facility is located in Birmingham, so this role will require frequent visits to generate and assess strike-offs. What You’ll Do: Collaborate with the VP of Design and design team to develop a robust portfolio of on-trend rug designs Work closely with our European leadership team to assess collaboration partners Create visually compelling mood boards to inspire potential partners Work closely with high-profile collaborators to build relationships, develop unique rug collections, and ensure timely delivery Create production-ready textile design files and assess strike-offs for color and design accuracy at the manufacturing plant Manage project timelines, prioritize tasks, identify potential risks, and communicate project updates effectively Provide strategic guidance and project management for both short-term and long-term design initiatives With the support of the VP of Design, develop a vision on the future of the design in the UK and Europe as the market continues to expand What You’ll Need to Have: Required: Bachelor's degree in Textile Design or a related field 8-10 years of experience in textile design, with a focus on new product development and business launch Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and a strong understanding of printed textile manufacturing processes Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal Ability to work independently, take initiative, and overcome obstacles Data-driven approach to decision-making, with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment Preferred: Strong interest in home and textile design, particularly rug design Knowledge of textile constructions beyond surface pattern At Ruggable, we offer competitive compensation and benefits packages.
