The UHB Costing Team have an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Cost Accountant to join their friendly and dynamic team based at Regent Court, Edgbaston. The post-holder will assist the Senior Costing Manager in ensuring all Corporate Services costs are allocated and apportioned in line with the Approved Costing Guidance, and be part of the Costing Team directly involved in the development and maintenance of the Costing System. They will be responsible for ensuring Corporate are appropriately allocated to patient services in the cost model and assist with allocation of direct service costs. The successful applicant will be expected to review outputs in different report formats such as Excel, Tabular Modules and Power BI, to validate that costs have been allocated accurately. The role will involve working closely with other staff within Finance and Operations to ensure the information used to drive cost allocations is up to date, working with the relevant teams to continually improve data where possible. The post is based at Regent Court, George Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham B15 1NU, with the flexibility to work from home 2 days each week. Main duties of the job
Assist the Deputy Head of Costing in ensuring that all Corporate Services costs are allocated and apportioned in line with the Approved Costing Guidance. Qualifications
Financially trained through professional accountancy qualification -- Certificate Level/Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) Member or equivalent experience. Educated to Degree level in a finance or accounting degree or equivalent relevant experience. Experience
Experience of working in a Financial setting. Experience of using a Costing System. Good understanding of finance concepts and techniques. Good understanding of Costing apportionments and allocations. Working knowledge of NHSE National Cost Collection. Additional Criteria
Numerate with strong analytical skills. Proficient in the use of spreadsheets, databases and computerised ledger systems, requiring good keyboard skills. Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to explain financial concepts to non-finance staff. Ability to interpret and present financial information in a meaningful way to aid decision making.
