Shaping and delivering the organisation’s strategic plan. Managing all operational matters, including budgets, external contracts, and recruitment. Maintaining our service level agreement with Newcastle City Council. Developing and overseeing innovative programmes and projects to empower older people. Working both with and for our members, this being a member-led organisation. Building and sustaining relationships with members, funders, partners, and decision-makers. Leading fundraising and member-recruitment efforts to secure the sustainability of the organisation. Advocating for the diverse needs and aspirations of older people in Newcastle. This role offers a unique challenge: delivering a bold vision for the city’s older residents while balancing significant resource constraints. You’ll need to inspire and lead a small team of staff and volunteers, manage competing priorities, and find creative ways to achieve impact.
About You We’re looking for someone who:
Is deeply committed to social justice and tackling ageism. Has significant experience working with and for older people from diverse communities. Is a proven leader with the ability to manage budgets, secure funding, promote the organisation and deliver ambitious plans. Communicates confidently and diplomatically, engaging effectively with people at all levels. Can balance the organisation’s rich 25-year legacy with fresh, forward-thinking ideas. Thrives in a collaborative environment and is comfortable navigating competing ideas and strong personalities.
