Job summary
This is a 10.5PA post for a Clinical Consultant Oncologist, with a specialist interest in lung and breast tumours. The post is based at the Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust and includes weekly attendance at our satellite site at Ashford and St Peters Hospital.
Following a recent review of our outstanding Oncology service, we are pleased to be expanding our medical workforce to meet the growing demand.
The Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust hosts a leading regional Cancer Centre, and we are seeking a well-organized Clinical Consultant Oncologist to join our team. The successful candidate will provide expertise in the management and treatment of patients with Lung and Breast tumours, including Chemotherapy, systemic therapy, and Radiotherapy (including Stereotactic). This role offers the opportunity to join a dynamic team providing exceptional cancer care in a modern, state-of-the-art facility.
We are looking for candidates who are on the Specialist Register for Clinical Oncology (or within six months of CCT date for resident doctors), have expertise and experience in Lung & Breast tumours, a strong commitment to providing high-quality patient care and continuous professional development, and excellent communication and teamwork skills.
This post attracts a relocation package of up to £8,000, T&Cs apply.
Main duties of the job
Remit of the Consultant Post:
Work with colleagues to provide a Lung and Breast oncology service.
Provide the oncology service for breast patients in the Guildford catchment area and lung patients in the Ashford and St Peter's area.
Offer Chemotherapy and systemic therapy expertise, as well as Radiotherapy (including Stereotactic).
Support a virtual AOS MDT and Ward round for oncology treating units within the Cancer Alliance.
Participate in regular consultant ward cover sessions.
This remit requires a well-organized individual with good team-working skills and the ability to complete work within agreed timescales in cooperation with all staff groups and with support from senior colleagues.
