We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our team at a leading building services engineering design consultancy. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in mechanical engineering within the building services sector, with a strong emphasis on healthcare projects. Exceptional communication skills are essential. Key Responsibilities: Project Leadership: Lead and manage complex mechanical engineering projects, particularly within healthcare facilities. Oversee all phases of project development, from initial concept through detailed design, construction, and commissioning. Design & Development: Develop and implement advanced mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, medical gas systems, and fire protection systems. Ensure designs are optimised for energy efficiency, sustainability, and compliance with HTM (Health Technical Memoranda) standards and other relevant regulations. Technical Analysis: Perform detailed calculations and simulations to support design decisions, including heat load calculations, fluid dynamics, and energy modelling. Utilise software tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, and simulation software. Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, structural engineers, and electrical engineers, to deliver integrated and coordinated solutions. Participate in design reviews and technical meetings. Client Engagement: Engage with clients to understand their requirements and provide expert technical advice. Prepare and present technical reports, specifications, and proposals. Ensure client satisfaction through effective communication and project management. Quality Assurance: Implement rigorous quality assurance processes to ensure all designs meet industry standards and regulatory requirements. Conduct technical reviews and audits to maintain high standards of engineering excellence. Mentorship: Mentor and support junior engineers, providing technical guidance and fostering their professional development. Lead technical training sessions and knowledge-sharing initiatives. Qualifications: Experience: Extensive experience in mechanical engineering within the building services sector, with a significant focus on healthcare projects. Proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects. Education: A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Chartered Engineer (CEng) status is preferred. Technical Skills: Proficiency in design and simulation software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and energy modelling tools. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Knowledge of relevant standards and regulations, including HTM, CIBSE guidelines, and building codes. Communication: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Ability to present complex technical information clearly and effectively to clients and team members. Leadership: Proven leadership abilities, with experience managing projects and mentoring team members. Strong organisational and project management skills. Why Join Us?
