Gynae-oncology Secretary

Job Summary To work as a Medical Secretary within the Gynae-Oncology department, including diary management and taking lead responsibility for a number of consultants within the team. Provide support to the associated medical team by typing and distributing clinic notes, discharge summaries, and following up on further appointments and tests as required. To be proficient in knowledge and use of medical terminology and IT.

You will be working as part of a team of vascular secretaries, liaising with the booking teams regarding patient queries.

Main Duties of the Job Organise the day-to-day running of the office, including opening the post or other inquiries and actioning as necessary, independently of or with the guidance of one of the Gynae-Oncology Consultants. The team consists of Consultants, Registrars, SHO, and FY1s. There are also CNSs who work cross-site between Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells hospitals.

Experience/Knowledge Essential

Extensive knowledge of Word, Excel, E-mail, Internet, Intranet, full secretarial procedures, medical terminology, confidentiality/data protection Act Medical or other senior secretarial level experience Desirable PowerPoint Previous NHS experience

Qualifications Essential

Medical secretarial qualification, RSA3, NVQ3, or other professional secretarial qualification/experience
