We are looking for a doctor who can provide expertise in Care of the Elderly & General Medicine, based at Fairfield General Hospital with regular travel to other local locations. You will be part of a department currently undergoing a period of innovation and development, enhancing our already successful Frailty SDEC service, inpatient Dementia Unit and community in reach services. There is a significant general medical component to the job, which you will be required to contribute to. You will be involved in many aspects of elderly care including Dementia care, Acute frailty, in reach and virtual wards. Main duties of the job

To be eligible for consideration you must be on the GMC Specialist Register for Geriatrics & General internal medicine or a Specialist Registrar within six months of your CCT date or have equivalent experience to be entered on the GMC Specialist Registrar within six months of the interview date. This is an exciting time of departmental expansion and we'd love to meet like-minded individuals with a drive for success and thirst for knowledge. The post is being offered at 10PAs which includes sessions for the General Medical on call rota. Opportunities for additional leadership and governance commitments may be available in the future. Qualifications

Hold MRCPUK or show evidence of equivalent training and experience Evidence of continuing professional development Higher Degree in relevant Clinical or Management Subject(MD or PHD Equivalent) Professional Registration

Full registration with the General Medical Council with a valid license to practice Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via: CCT Specialist Registration in GIM and Geriatrics or will obtain within 6 months of interview date, or working towards CESR, or European Community Rights GIM with speciality will also be considered Evidence of Accredited Clinical & Educational Supervision of Medical Learners Experience

Experience at Senior level managing acute elderly and general adult inpatients. Experience in liaison geriatrics in the form of Orthogeriatrics, surgical liaison and/or community geriatrics High calibre of clinical decision making Extensive experience in acute unselected general medicine of all age groups Good understanding of Clinical Governance Evidence of audit work and where this has brought about change Evidence of participation in research Demonstrate evidence of sound financial management. Research Skills: Publication of research articles, demonstrating understanding of research methodology and commitments Evidence of relevant peer reviewed papers and other publications (e.g. book chapter, book editor, case report - not abstracts or letters) Teaching

Experience of teaching juniors, medical students and other health care professionals Proven teaching abilities Attendance at teaching course Communication

Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues Able to provide evidence e.g. medical training in English, Occupational English Test (OET) certificate, IELTS (7 Overall, 7 Speaking, 6 Listening, 6 Reading, 6 Writing) scores, etc. Demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC's Good Medical Practice (2013) Is empathetic and sensitive to patient's needs. Able to explain things clearly - particularly complex or sensitive information. Is able to influence and persuade effectively. Disclosure and Barring Service Check
