Applicationsare invited for Trust Doctor (TD) positions within the Specialty and IntegratedMedicine Clinical Service Unit (CSU) at St Jamess University Hospital (SJUH),Leeds. They are ideally suited to junior doctors who have completed Foundationand / or Internal Medicine Training but have yet to decide their chosen careerpathway or who are not yet ready to enter a formal training scheme. OurTD posts, which are fixed-term from 3rd February 2025 to 5th August 2025, aredesigned to provide a wide range of clinical experience in Acute, General, andElderly Medicine. Successful applicants will be given an opportunity to workwithin our Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) service, on our Acute Medical Units,and on our in-patient Specialty Wards. Excellent training will therefore beprovided in the management of acutely unwell and deteriorating patients,Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment, rehabilitation, multidisciplinaryteamworking, and discharge planning. EachTrust Doctor will be allocated a named Educational Supervisor with whom theywill develop a tailored Personal Development Plan. Opportunities will beprovided to join our audit, quality improvement, and clinical governanceprogramme. Althoughpost-holders will undertake the majority of their clinical duties within theirchosen parent specialty, they may be asked to contribute to the care ofpatients in all of these areas from time-to-time. Our department atSJUH is currently based across Chancellors Wing and Gledhow Wing. It comprisesfour Acute Medical Units (one of which incorporates a High Observation Unit(HOBS)), a Same Day Emergency Care service (with both a Medical Unit and OlderPersons Unit), two General Medicine / Diabetes & Endocrinology wards, fiveElderly Medicine wards, and an Infectious Diseases & Travel Medicine Unit. Excellent experiencewill be provided in ambulatory care, the management of acutely ill patients,Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment, on-going in-patient care, rehabilitation,and discharge planning. Furthermore, we have very good links with Leeds CommunityHealthcare NHS Trust, especially with the Community Care Beds, and run a largenumber of specialist out-patient clinics. Qualifications
Holds an MB ChB or equivalent medical qualification. Holds the MRCP(UK) diploma. Be eligible for full registration with, and hold a current licence to practise from, the GMC at intended start date. Be eligible to work in the UK. Eligibility, Fitness to practice, and Language Skills
