This position is a whole time (10 PA), or maximum part time, replacement Fixed Term Consultant Emergency General Surgeon appointment for the United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust. There is the option of additional PA's in agreement with the successful candidate. However, any additional PA's will be reviewed annually through the job planning process.
If the person appointed elects to undertake a maximum part time contract, he/she will be required to devote substantially the whole of his/her professional time to the duties of the post and to give them priority at all times.
Any applicant who is unable for personal reasons to work full time will be eligible to be considered for the post. If such a person is appointed, modification of the content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues.

This is a Consultant based service and the Consultant will have continuing responsibility for the patients in his/her charge and to assist in the proper functioning of the department. Full GMC registration An appropriate higher surgical qualification FRCS CESR or working towards Skills
Ability to teach and work with a multi-disciplinary team Understanding of the principles of Clinical Governance Willingness to organise relevant audit activities Willingness to develop new approaches to teaching Experience
Extensive experience in Emergency General Surgery High standard of clinical skill and expertise in the speciality Familiarity with issues of service, organisation and development Knowledge of the utilisation of IT in clinical practice Experience in performing lower GI endoscopies Disclosure and Barring Service Check
