Job overview The Liverpool Women's NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit a highly motivated, qualified and forward-thinking Maternity Manager. Responsible for day to day operational management of the ward or department. Provides professional and managerial leadership. Responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating patient care. Manages staff, manages rotas, and undertakes recruitment and selection. Promotes positive patient experience, lead on local quality initiatives and explores opportunities for service improvement. Holds and manages budget. Main duties of the job The post holder will have overall responsibility and accountability for the management of the ward or department, providing a dynamic leadership role within the team. Ensuring effective communication and engagement is maintained at all times, ensuring regular team meetings and opportunities for staff at all levels to contribute to decision making at ward or department level. Able to make effective decisions autonomously / independently without supervision and in partnership with patients, families and the multi-disciplinary team. Demonstrate strong leadership and act as a role model for the midwifery team, ensuring the delivery of a high standard of evidence based care to patients and providing support for all staff on the unit. Responsibility for development within the department / ward, taking a lead role in ensuring continuous improvements in standards for the benefit of good patient care. Manage and co-ordinate a ward /department team, working autonomously without supervision, providing professional clinical leadership and responsibility for ensuring an environment of empowerment through coaching, teaching and facilitation.
