Main responsibilities:

We are thrilled to announce a fantastic new opportunity to join our team as a Bill of Material Engineer.

The main responsibility for this role is to coordinate the maintenance of all part number/part revision releases (relevant to allocated programs), key data tables, and associated data element assignments, as appropriate, in Lear’s PLM system and Part Management Application (SQL database or Excel application) whilst crucially supporting program, launch, commercial and change management functions as necessary throughout the product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintain every part revision in the engineering BOM module for the full program lifecycle including:

Entering and maintaining all necessary parameters by part revision.

Maintaining accurate part revision assignment to all necessary data elements such as program, model year, build phases, colours, complex commodities, coding features etc.

Accurately maintain the master colour, commodity/sub-commodity, complex commodity, and coding/attribute modules within the PMA Database Application.

Import all customer part number/revision change data files (Support Plans) into the SQL Database via the tools provided and make any manual entries as necessary to ensure data integrity.

Customer part release alignment and data validation.

Utilizing results provided by the PMA Database or Excel Application organize regular timely reviews with the customer to ensure the alignment of parts and colour releases and the validity of orders and schedules, through effectual issue recognition and resolution.

For early engineering and pre-launch builds, identify and report all order specification (SDV) file issues/queries to the customer and where necessary make manual amendments within the PMA database application (SQL or Excel) to correct the errors in order to produce accurate Lear determined order content to enable reliable data analysis.

Constantly review and either verify or disprove the customer product definition via the appropriate customer contacts.

Apply corrections to enable manual amendments to the SDV data in PMA database application.

Run part and colour alignment checks and data validation utilising the PMA database or Excel application tools, evaluate results, and react accordingly to resolve issues on time.

Maintain the containment module by part revisions for pre-launch builds within the PMA Database Application.

Develop a rapport with all stakeholder functions to ensure feedback is encouraged, reviewed and processed appropriately. Cultivate a collaborative relationship to enable optimal response to issues and acquisition of support when required.

Support the program, launch, change and commercial departments in all aspects relating to the engineering BOM, part and colour alignment, data validation and change throughout the product lifecycle.

Key skills and Qualifications:

Good working knowledge of Excel and Databases, Visual Basic Application / writing Macros in Excel.

Handling, manipulating, interrogating, analysing, and reporting complex data using Excel or databases.

Managing multiple data packages simultaneously.

Data entry of substantial data packages.

Dealing with external companies / expediting external activities to meet project timescales.

Managing programs of work.

Working to clearly defined timescales / delivering to project gateways.

Working with complex product structures in an engineering environment and determining valid build configurations for end products.

Previous experience in the automotive industry preferably in an engineering or Bill of Materials capacity or similar role.

Related Engineering qualification to HNC standard or equivalent.

Positive, proactive attitude with excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.

Strong work ethic, problem-solving skills, and resilience under pressure.
