The Deputy Proposal Director will be involved in supporting a culture of bidding best practice to secure our most important wins and improve our overall win rate within Rail, Structures, and Ground Engineering (RSGE). What can we offer? A leading role across the business development lifecycle, from client account plans, capture planning, competitor analysis, client listening, and onto effective proposal management you will drive the work winning culture and performance in the business. Demonstrable use of tools such as Client Account Management, Four Rules / Blue Sheet / equivalent, governance, legal / contracts, Go/No-Go, answer plans, bid programmes, and lessons learnt will be key to delivering successful outcomes. Championing ESG, social value, diversity, and innovation in their everyday working life. Here's what you'll do: Drive client account management best practice across our regions and other key client interfaces, gathering client and scope intelligence, providing clear goals to achieve outcomes aligned with the business strategy. Undertake pre-bid positioning using established capture planning tools, working with the business to drive effective actions to improve our position based on clear actions and a defined win strategy. Support Go/No-Go decision making through clear data regarding our position, our competitors, identifying 'why us', and ultimately, if the opportunity is a viable investment for our bid budget. Form and lead bid teams in the creation and execution of the bid strategy, transitioning the pre-bid planning into an effective bid resource, facilitate bid kick off meetings, run answer planning sessions, create and implement effective programme management, promote collaborative behaviours through regular communication, and capture lessons learnt. Serve as a work winning role model, embedding best practice and collaborative ethos in the business. Train and mentor bid teams on aspects such as: capture planning, strategy creation, answer planning, and bid writing. Representing RSGE Work Winning in internal and external forums and be the conduit of good practice. Qualifications Ready to push the limits of what's possible? Here's what we're looking for: Degree in a relevant discipline. APMP Foundation level, Practitioner level preferred. Understanding the bidding lifecycle and have effective strategic, capture planning, and bid management. Senior Stakeholder Management (internal and external) executive level relationship management, gaining buy-in, drawing on their influence, and benefiting from their experience / wider business view. Strategic intelligence and approach: understanding and assessing the marketplace for bid positioning, and managing the team and business with work-winning processes to maximise the benefit of this intelligence. Win strategy and positioning: skilled creator of winning bid strategies and positioning activities. Bid Delivery: extensive expertise in winning major bids within infrastructure. Bid Innovation: appetite to improve existing processes/tools or create new innovative ways in developing our exemplar responses.
