Free bus travel as an inspector of public transport services across the County. About the Role We are looking to recruit 1 Inspector (Transport). This is a part-time position, 3 days/22.2 hours per week, fixed term until March 2026. The successful candidate will travel around the County of Leicestershire, using local bus services, to carry out a programme of inspections of the bus services and timetable displays. The main duties of this role include: Carrying out inspections of buses, time-keeping, and other matters relevant to the passenger experience. Assisting with the collection of bus service data, including on-bus passenger surveys, distribution of bus-related information, and updating roadside displays. Inspecting passengers' tickets for correctness, examining driver's documentation for accuracy, and recording usage and revenue of individual journeys. About You To apply for this post, you must: Hold a valid full driving licence. Have a good standard of education including English and Mathematics at GCSE Grade 4-9 (or equivalent)

demonstrable experience in the points below. Have good numeracy skills and experience of using spreadsheets and database systems to check information, accurately input information, update records, and extract data. Have good interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to handle confrontation and respond to customer queries face to face in a calm and professional manner. Be able to understand bus schedules and timetables. Have good organisational skills with a logical approach to plan and prioritise work, along with keen attention to detail and the ability to use own initiative and work with minimal supervision. You must also have an understanding of, and commitment to, equality, diversity, and inclusion. In addition, we expect you to share our commitment to our values and will ask you to provide evidence of when you have demonstrated them as part of the selection process.
