Main Duties of the Job

The Medicines Value and Access (MVA) Directorate seeks to develop evidence-based and data-driven policies that support patient access to, and outcomes from, medicines, while securing value for money for the system. The Medicines Policy Analysis team within MVA provides insight and evidence to inform policy, strategy, and commercial activities. We are recruiting for a Senior Analytical Manager (8b) who will have responsibility for delivering high-quality analysis that supports the development of evidence-based policies and commercial frameworks, and will input into the development of health technology assessment methods and processes. The postholder will work closely with colleagues and senior stakeholders across MVA, clinical and pharmacy staff across NHS England, and the wider NHS, and with external stakeholders such as DHSC, NICE, and the MHRA. The Medicines Policy Analysis team engages in a wide range of analysis, including disease pathway modelling, strategic analysis to inform and evaluate medicines optimisation and efficiency opportunities, and forecasting of medicines spend to support NHS budget planning. It's expected that the post holder will also engage in matrix working to support some of these cross-cutting issues. About Us

Qualifications

Educated to Masters level in economics or an equivalent subject, or equivalent experience of working as an economist. Knowledge and Experience

Substantial experience of working as an economist in a public sector body, regulatory agency, consultancy, or other relevant organisation. Able to identify strategic areas where analysis can make a positive impact and to gain the confidence of policy leads to make use of technical expertise within their programmes. Experience of building effective cross-functional working relationships, including across professional boundaries, to drive organisational agenda. Skills, Capabilities & Attributes

Knowledge of, and experience applying, analytical frameworks and theoretical concepts from economics. Highly developed communication skills with the capability to analyse, review, and make sense of complex, sensitive, or contentious information across a diverse range of subjects. Ability to communicate specialist information clearly and with impact to a range of audiences. Ability to work flexibly across multiple projects and professional boundaries, managing own and others' work effectively including when working to tight and changing timescales.
